SSDC trains students from economically challenged backgrounds and nearby towns and villages within a 50 km radius of Madanapalle—in key areas such as:
- Life Skills
- Spoken English
- Applied Mathematics
- Tally Accounting
- Functional Computer Literacy
Our programs focus on employability, communication, and confidence, helping youth take the next step in their lives.
Over a 4-month period, students not only get trained in practical skills but are also taught to be self-aware and develop self-belief and confidence that steer them towards the fulfillment of their aspirations—of earning a living with dignity and a hope for a brighter future.
With life skills training, a learner can explore alternatives, weigh pros and cons and make rational decisions in solving problems or issues as they arise.
Before the start of a new session, candidates for the new batch at SSDC are identified by our Centre members who canvass and visit educational institutes, hold village meetings, build community awareness, send out electronic communication and hold parent - trainer meetings to encourage young adults to enroll in the course. Once enrolled, training commences in the designed curriculum across practical and behavioral aspects over a 4-month period. Hands-on, Practical Skilling: Students get hands on training in practical, industry relevant skills such as Spoken English, Functional Computers and Applied Mathematics.
Life Skills: Students undergo value based, real world awareness and training in areas such as Punctuality, Attendance, Attentiveness,
Participation, Problem solving skills, Interpersonal skills and Attitude. We also prepare them to face interviews confidently and without anxiety. We regularly assess our students in the practical hands-on functional subjects as well as the development of their life skills. Students are given a detailed explanation of the learning competencies acquired in the previous month, the scope of improvement and what is expected of them in the upcoming months.
Progress of the student is also shared with his/her parents. The trainees at SSDC are a mixed group of people from married women, to young adult girls and boys. Based on their interest they are placed in towns/cities such as Madanapalle, Bengaluru, Chennai, Malur or Tirupati.
Competency Assessment
We conduct monthly progress assessment of students based on internationally benchmarked competencies. At the end of the 4-month course we provide a report on the highest competency level achieved by each student in the four skills mentioned above.
