The Story
N. Mounika, a 19-year-old student of SSDC's 13th Batch (2025), comes from Thettu village near Rishi Valley. Growing up in a family affected by alcoholism, financial hardship, and complex family challenges, she witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by many women and children in her community.
Despite these difficulties, Mounika remained committed to her education. Inspired by her mother's determination as a tailor and her encouragement to become financially independent, she chose to pursue learning rather than succumb to societal pressure for early marriage.
Before attending SSDC, Mounika worked daily to support her family, taking up farm-related work whenever possible. Joining SSDC became a turning point in her life. Through training in English, computers, and life skills, she gradually built confidence, developed new abilities, and began believing in her potential.
Mounika dreams of creating a better future—not only for herself but also for her family and community. She hopes to see a world where children receive quality education, women are empowered, and young people are given opportunities to thrive.
Her story is a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of education to transform lives.
