The Story
Harsha Vardhan is 18 years old and from Prashanth Nagar, Madanapalle. He was referred to SSDC through friends and previous batch students. He comes from a middle-class family, but the situation at home has been unstable for many years. His grandmother, who works as a fruit seller, is the person who currently supports him both financially and emotionally.
Growing up, Harsha faced a number of personal and family challenges that affected his confidence and emotional well-being. The circumstances at home, combined with health concerns and social difficulties during his school years, often left him feeling isolated.
Despite these difficulties, Harsha was a strong student. Throughout primary and high school, he consistently scored above 90%. In 9th standard, he served as the school leader and took on responsibilities in academics and discipline. When he entered 10th standard, he set high academic goals for himself and studied late into the night. During this period, he collapsed outside the school gate due to breathing difficulty, followed by seizures (fits). After this incident, doctors advised him not to attend regular school classes. Harsha continued studying from home and completed 10th standard through self-study.
After school, Harsha joined Sri Sai Chaithanya College for Intermediate education. His studies were affected due to frequent health interruptions. To support his mother and grandmother at different stages, he took up small jobs such as catering and temporary labour work.
Harsha joined SSDC with the intention to improve communication skills, strengthen computer knowledge, and eventually secure a job to support his grandmother. At SSDC, he found a learning environment that focused on personal growth rather than marks or comparison. He particularly enjoyed learning MS Office tools like Excel and PowerPoint, along with Tally, computer basics, and English.
Some days during the training, Harsha struggled to perform or attend class because of seizures or weakness. These days affected him emotionally, because he wanted to participate and progress at the same pace as others. However, he continued attending classes whenever possible and stayed committed to the learning process.
Harsha says SSDC helped him become calmer, more confident, and more aware of his capabilities. He believes the skills he gained will help him secure employment and build stability in his life.
Looking ahead, Harsha wants to get a job, support his grandmother, and ensure a financially secure future. His message for others facing similar challenges is that difficulties may delay progress but should not stop learning. He believes consistency, support, and willingness to improve helped him continue despite personal and health struggles.
